About Me

Hello, I’m Hanna.

I’m in my mid-twenties and I’m a step-parent (although you probably could have guessed that). My family currently consists of one partner (Jordan, 28), one step-son (Ryan, 9), one cat (2pac), soon to be one kitten too, one horse (Zollie) and one pony (Cami). Our story is set in the South West of England where it rains 9 months of the year but is still very pretty. I have a degree in psychology, and a diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy although this has absolutely nothing to do with my job. I’m a vegetarian but the men of the house are omnivores.

Enough about us.

You’ll find a little bit of everything on here, the ups and downs, the lessons I’ve learnt and any advice that may be useful for parents and step-parents alike. There will be stories, recipes, occasionally reviews and anything else I may feel others might want me to share. I wanted to create a space for people like me who aren’t really sure what they’re doing, but we’re giving it a good try. I was only 20 when I became a step-parent so none of my friends were in the same boat as me. In fact, I didn’t know anyone with step-kids who I could ask for advice so think of me as your internet ‘step’ friend. We can talk about our mistakes and failures as parents, along with our successes and celebrations.

So grab your cup of coffee, or glass of wine and relax. Take a breath, and know that you’re not the only one who doesn’t really have a clue what you’re doing.
